I am such a bad blogirl!

I did have a wonderful trade with Caroline of Westwind Woman. I met her randomly right after Country Fair and she was wearing the most lovely crocheted mitts from some beautiful variagated blue-green mohair. She had traded for the yarn at the fair and offered to trade with me a finished pair of mitts for some of my yarn. She's a really amazing and inspiring person and does great work, too. The mitts fit perfectly and are even specially shaped around the thumb and palm to be a rightie and leftie, so they're perfect. I tried to pick some of the best yarns that I could bring myself to part with because I wanted to give her something really nice in trade & then she thought I had given her too much, so she made me a crocheted bikini top too! It's made from a skein of tobacco brown Cotton Twist that I put in the trade and trimmed with some beautiful variagated ribbon yarn in brown, gold, and rosy colors. I promised to e-mail her pictures & I'll post them here too, when I get to it.

I finished the silk garden bolero, trimmed with black baby alpaca and it's very yummy. Again, no pictures yet, as my camera is fritzy these days & now my photographer (erm... husband)is out of town until Sunday, so no action shots for a little while. I'll try to post at least a flat one soon.

But after the bolero, I was sort of worn out with knitting because it is so gawd-awful hot right now & I couldn't figure out a new project. Oh and the only thing current on the needles is my size 3 needles cotton gardigan that is in a miles of endless stockinette stitch right now & mind-numbingly boring.

I've been feeling like I barely have the muster for sitting up straight in this heat, much less pouring my energy into a knitting project.

Thus, I've been on a mini-hiatus. It's been a little over a week and I think I am now starting to get an urge to get back into it. Especially with my sweetie gone for a few days, it will be nice to cozy up to a new project. Still trying to figure out what, though. We'll see what happens. I have a few ideas, so I'll make a list for myself:

Yarn on the top of my list to make into things:
4 skeins worsted natural color hemp/cotton.
146 yd bulky pale blue/lavender handspun from Midnight Sky Fibers
2 skeins worsted weight Lamb's Pride, black (for some sort of cable-y sweater vest)
5 skeins bulky weight Misti Baby Alpaca, burgundy. I want to see if I can't make this yarn into this when the magazine comes out on the newsstands... so I guess it's spoken for.

I want to make a nice cardigan with the hemp/cotton. Something not too busy, but with lace or cable details to make it interesting. I usually don't wear neutral colors, as they tend to look bad with my skin tone, but I think the warmth of the hemp fiber gives this neutral a nice golden overtone that will be pretty. It's a very soft combination that will just get softer with time. I am excited about seeing how it will wear.

I am in a void about what to do withthe handspun and it is so pretty that I want to do something really special with it. I have a few yarns that might combine with it, but I don't want to detract from the beauty of this yarn.

Hmm. Tonight I'll have to daydream about what to do next and maybe tomorrow, I'll have something figured out.
